Project Overview
About This Project
Modernizing public access to law enforcement services with an online livestock registry, inmate information, community resources, and a mobile app.
Project Overview
The Sequoyah County Sheriff's Office in Oklahoma has partnered with Sheriff Websites since 2019. As the department's needs evolved, the Sheriff's Office chose to update its existing website with improved navigation, expanded public services, and additional tools designed around the needs of its community.
The redesign focused on making frequently requested information easier to find while introducing resources that support both residents and department operations.
One particularly valuable addition was an online Livestock Registry, developed to help address the needs of Sequoyah County's agricultural community.
The Challenge: Serving a Community with Diverse Needs
Sheriff's offices serve communities with different priorities, and their websites need to reflect those differences.
In Sequoyah County, residents need convenient access to traditional law enforcement resources such as inmate information, sex offender records, and sheriff sales. The department also serves an agricultural community where lost, stolen, or displaced livestock can present additional challenges.
The Sheriff's Office needed a modern website that made existing services more accessible while providing room for specialized community resources.
Our Solution: A More Accessible Website with Expanded Services
Sheriff Websites redesigned the department's website with mobile-friendly navigation, organized public information, and online tools that make important resources easier to access.
Key features include:
- Online Livestock Registry: Allows livestock owners to register information about their animals, providing a resource that may assist law enforcement when responding to reports involving missing, stolen, or displaced livestock.
- Inmate Roster: Provides convenient public access to available booking and inmate information.
- Sex Offender Search: Helps residents locate publicly available information about registered sex offenders.
- Most Wanted: A dedicated resource for sharing information about individuals wanted by law enforcement.
- Sheriff Sales: Centralizes information about upcoming sheriff sales and related public notices.
- Career Portal: Makes Sheriff's Office employment opportunities easier to discover.
- Mobile App: Provides an additional digital channel for connecting residents with Sheriff's Office information and resources.
- Responsive Website Design: Makes department services and public information accessible across phones, tablets, and desktop computers.
A Specialized Solution: The Livestock Registry
One of the most distinctive features of the Sequoyah County project is its online Livestock Registry.
For livestock owners, an animal that escapes its enclosure, becomes displaced during severe weather, or is reported stolen can create a stressful situation.
The registry gives residents a way to provide identifying information about their livestock before an incident occurs.
When a livestock-related report is received, having registered animal information available may help the Sheriff's Office identify an owner or gather useful details during its response.
The practical benefit: The department has an additional source of information for livestock-related incidents, while agricultural residents have a convenient way to participate in a local public safety resource.
It's an example of how a Sheriff's Office website can support community needs that extend beyond traditional law enforcement information.
Improving Access to Everyday Sheriff's Office Services
Making Public Information Easier to Find
The redesigned navigation helps residents locate inmate records, sex offender information, Most Wanted listings, and sheriff sales without searching through multiple pages.
By organizing frequently requested resources in one location, the website makes routine information easier to access online.
Extending Access Through a Mobile App
In addition to the updated website, the Sequoyah County Sheriff's Office offers a mobile app.
This gives the department another way to connect with community members who increasingly rely on their phones for information and public services.
Supporting Ongoing Department Communication
The website also provides a central location for Sheriff's Office information, community resources, and public announcements.
This helps the department maintain a consistent online resource as its programs and public information needs evolve.
The Result: A Website Built Around the Community It Serves
Sequoyah County's redesigned website brings together essential public information, modern navigation, mobile access, and a specialized tool for its agricultural community.
For residents, the website provides convenient access to frequently requested resources.
For the Sheriff's Office, it provides an organized platform for publishing information and supporting community programs.
The Livestock Registry demonstrates an especially important part of the project: identifying needs unique to the department's service area and developing practical digital solutions to address them.
An Ongoing Partnership Since 2019
Sequoyah County's project reflects the value of a long-term website partnership.
Rather than treating the original website as a finished product, Sheriff Websites has continued working with the department as its needs and available technology have evolved.
From improving everyday access to inmate information to introducing a dedicated Livestock Registry, the project demonstrates how a Sheriff's Office website can grow alongside the community it serves.
